Overview

1991 Accelerator is a prominent Ukrainian accelerator dedicated to fostering early-stage startups that aim to create positive social impact through technology. Established in 2016, it has conducted over 40 programs, supporting more than 250 startups, with a total investment raised reaching $33.8 million as of May 2025. The accelerator is a flagship project of SocialBoost, a Ukrainian tech NGO operating since 2011, which connects the startup community, business, and government to implement innovative solutions and drive economic growth. The accelerator's programs are designed to assist entrepreneurs from the inception of their ideas to the development of real startups that provide services to citizens, businesses, and government agencies. It offers high-intensity acceleration and mentoring programs, focusing on impact tech sectors such as open data, civic tech, legal tech, fintech, medtech, and health tech. The accelerator also collaborates with local authorities, anti-corruption IT initiatives, and business corporations to create a unique ecosystem that promotes the scaling of innovative businesses in Ukraine. 1991 Accelerator has achieved significant milestones, including conducting more than 30 incubation and acceleration programs, facilitating startups in securing an impressive $2.8 million in investment, and launching over 250 projects spanning various sectors. It has garnered support from a network spanning 13 countries and earned recognition in over 1,500 media publications. Notable graduates of the program include AXDRAFT, Public Monitoring of Infrastructure, Get-to-Tender, Prozorro.Sale, YouScore, Monitor.Estate, NORA, Court on the Hand, Shtraf UA, Detox Ukraine, DonorUA, Allzap, Knopka, KRAY Technology, LvivCityHelper, Pravomen, PatentBot, and CityBot Nazar, each making remarkable strides in their respective domains. The accelerator received accreditation from the Ukrainian Startup Fund in 2020, enabling it to increase the number of startups that could be accelerated. In 2022, it launched the '1991 Reload' program to support tech startups affected by conflict, assisting 48 startups during the first months of the war. This initiative provided consulting support to startups, ensuring 15 sustained operations after the full-scale invasion. The comprehensive online program played a pivotal role in guiding startups through various facets of development, resulting in tangible growth and success. 1991 Accelerator continues to play a pivotal role in fostering technological entrepreneurship in Ukraine, offering a range of incubation, acceleration, and mentoring programs that equip startups with the tools and knowledge to scale and venture into the global market.
