Overview
Aaron Block is a prominent angel investor and entrepreneur specializing in real estate technology and e-commerce sectors. He co-founded MetaProp, a New York-based venture capital firm focused on the PropTech industry, which has invested in over 100 technology companies across the real estate value chain. Under his leadership, MetaProp has managed multiple funds for both financial and strategic real estate investors, representing a pilot- and test-ready sandbox of over 15 billion square feet across various real estate asset types and global markets. Prior to his venture capital career, Aaron served as Chairman of BayRu, LLC, a U.S.-Russia e-commerce shopping and shipping specialist and eBay's exclusive drop shipping partner for Russia/CIS consumers. Joining the company in 2010 as an investor and CEO, he led BayRu to become the 8th largest international online retailer in Russia by 2013. Before BayRu, Aaron was a commercial real estate executive with Cushman & Wakefield, overseeing more than 270 professionals as leader of the Chicago region. He received numerous honors and awards during his real estate career, including Top Producer and Most Creative Deal. Notably, he completed the largest leasing deal in Russian history and the largest leasing deal of the year in Ukraine in 2007. Aaron is multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Russian. He has been featured in various international publications and media, including Forbes, Inc., Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, CBS Radio, eCommerceBytes, The Moscow Times, RIA Novosti, RBK, Vedomosti, and Kommersant. In 2019, he was awarded Executive of the Year for innovation by Commercial Property Executive Magazine. In 2018, he co-authored the Amazon bestseller 'PropTech101' with MetaProp co-founder Zach Aarons.
