Overview
Africa Energy Investment Corporation (AEICORP) is a pan-African development finance institution established on 26 January 2019 by the member countries of the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO). Its mission is to drive Africa’s sustainable energy future by mobilizing global capital through strategic partnerships and innovative investment solutions, fostering economic growth, environmental preservation, and social impact. AEICORP's authorized capital is one billion US dollars, aiming to leverage this base to mobilize up to six billion US dollars in investments. AEICORP operates as a development finance institution, providing debt finance, equity finance, advisory services, and treasury & capital market instruments. Its target sectors include oil and gas, alternative energies, and natural resource development. The corporation's services encompass financial advisory and capital raising, policy and technical assistance, project development, trade finance, guarantees, project finance, project bond issuance, mezzanine offerings, senior loans, syndicated loan products, synthetic local currency loans, and intermediated loans. AEICORP also offers expansion capital, project equity, and project origination. As of 2025, the Managing Director of AEICORP is Mr. Zakaria Dosso, an energy economist and financier formerly engaged in African multilateral finance institutions. He leads the implementation of AEICORP’s investment strategy and its cooperation with Afreximbank, APPO, and the Africa Energy Bank. The corporation's governance framework includes a Board of Directors representing shareholder countries and an Executive Secretariat based at the Cotonou headquarters.
