Overview

Established in 2017 by the Uganda Bankers Association and Eclectics, Agent Banking Company (ABC) is a licensed Payment Systems Operator regulated by the Bank of Uganda. ABC provides scalable, secure, and interoperable financial services platforms that enable banks, MDIs, MFIs, SACCOs, fintechs, and other financial institutions to enhance their service delivery, expand their reach, and reduce operational costs. Their platform facilitates a broad range of services, including mobile, agent, merchant, and online payments, as well as offering open APIs to ensure seamless integration with existing systems. ABC is committed to making financial services affordable, accessible, and efficient for all Ugandans, particularly those in underserved and rural areas. As of 2023, over 60% of bank transactions by volume occur at over 15,000 agent outlets countrywide, with costs to customers dropping by over 50%. ABC is transitioning into a comprehensive financial services platform, offering mobile, web, agent, and merchant channels to provide a seamless and integrated experience. Their mission is to improve lives by facilitating access to quality and affordable financial services through shared and interoperable platforms and infrastructure.
