Alex Popa is an angel investor based in Los Angeles, California, with a diverse investment portfolio across various sectors. He is the founder and CEO of Poesis, an AI-native investment firm that integrates artificial intelligence into investment management. Prior to founding Poesis, Alex had a sixteen-year tenure at The Capital Group, one of the world's largest and oldest investment firms, where he served as a Partner and Portfolio Manager in the Growth Fund of America, the world's largest actively managed fund with approximately $300 billion in assets under management. His earlier roles included analyst positions covering North American railroads, insurance, and systemically important banks and financial institutions. Before his finance career, Alex held senior positions within the Government of Romania, including Prime Minister’s adviser for economic affairs and Secretary of State for Foreign Investments. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School with highest distinction, as both Baker and Loeb Scholar, and earned MS and dual BAS degrees from Stanford University, ranking first in his class as Henry Ford II Scholar. Alex has won eight first prizes in national and international physics Olympiads and is passionate about advancing next-generation financial infrastructure, life sciences, policymaking, automobile racing, and skiing. He has been actively involved on the boards of Stanford University Life Sciences, Harvard Business School, the US Olympics' ACE Working Group, Wings for Life USA, and the Lundquist Institute. He is also a member of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellows Class VI and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
