Overview

The Climate Pledge Fund is Amazon's corporate venture capital fund, established in June 2020 with an initial commitment of $2 billion. Its mission is to invest in companies developing sustainable and decarbonizing technologies and services that can help Amazon and other companies meet The Climate Pledge—a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The fund focuses on a wide range of industries, including transportation and logistics, energy generation, storage and utilization, manufacturing and materials, food and agriculture, and circular economy. By supporting these sectors, the fund aims to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy and promote environmental sustainability. Since its inception, the Climate Pledge Fund has made several notable investments. In September 2020, it invested in companies like Redwood Materials, Rivian, Turntide Technologies, and CarbonCure Technologies, all of which are working on innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions. In October 2024, the fund announced investments in Molg, Paebbl, and 14Trees, startups focused on e-waste recycling, carbon storage, and lower-carbon building materials, respectively. These investments reflect the fund's commitment to supporting a diverse array of technologies and services that contribute to a sustainable future.
