Amir Husain

Overview

Amir Husain is a serial entrepreneur and AI technologist based in Austin, Texas. He is the founder and former CEO of SparkCognition, an award-winning AI company that achieved unicorn status under his leadership. In 2023, SparkCognition rebranded as Avathon, with Husain continuing as CEO until the end of that year. He has also served as the CEO of SkyGrid, a joint venture with Boeing focused on developing an aerial operating system for autonomous aircraft. In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Husain is an active angel investor, primarily focusing on seed-stage investments in technology companies. His portfolio includes LeyLine Technologies, Truckistan, and Subject. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including Austin’s Top Entrepreneur and inclusion in Austin’s 40 Under 40. His work has been featured in leading publications such as the BBC, Fortune, and Forbes. Husain is also an inventor with over 30 patents in AI and distributed systems. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Computer Science and is a member of NATO’s Innovation Advisory Board. He is the author of the best-selling book “The Sentient Machine” and has co-authored “Hyperwar: Conflict and Competition in the AI Century.”
