AMTD ASEAN-Solidarity Fund
Overview
AMTD ASEAN-Solidarity Fund is a private equity fund based in Singapore, focusing on investments in the ASEAN region, particularly in technology and financial services sectors. The fund was established in April 2020 with an initial capital of S$50 million, in partnership with the ASEAN Financial Innovation Network (AFIN), to support and anchor eligible FinTech companies registered in the API Exchange Platform (APIX) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund offers financial support under the oversight of a Strategic Investment Advisory Committee comprising representatives from AFIN’s Board of Directors. In addition to financial support, the fund provides full access to AMTD’s SpiderNet ecosystem, offering opportunities for collaboration across ASEAN countries, Hong Kong, and China. Financial support for eligible applicants is made available through two parallel programs: the FinTech Solidarity Grant and the Sustainability Investment Scheme. The FinTech Solidarity Grant offers grants to Singapore-based FinTechs to help them maintain operations and continue to innovate and grow. The Sustainability Investment Scheme provides equity, convertible notes, or venture debt investments to FinTechs, with applications open on the APIX platform. The fund has made investments in several innovative FinTech companies, including Funding Societies, Active.ai, CardUp, TranSwap, and PolicyPal, totaling S$11.5 million through a variety of investment structures, such as equities, convertible notes, venture debts, warrants, and options. These investments span across AI, SME financing solutions, insurtech, cross-border payment platforms, and card payment solutions. The fund's goal is to establish Singapore’s most innovative platform through an ecosystem of strategic partners to cater to the entire spectrum of funding and business development needs of FinTech startups and entrepreneurs. It is committed to providing a complete and well-rounded investment and incubation program to cultivate and support the growing needs of technology pioneers, strengthen their value creation, and contribute to the Singapore and Southeast Asia communities. The fund also aims to build an innovative super ecosystem to lead and connect innovations in Singapore’s FinTech industry and accelerate financial inclusion, bringing new vigor and vitality into digital finance and new energy to Southeast Asia markets.
