Andy Bechtolsheim is a German-born computer scientist and entrepreneur known for his early investments in technology companies. He co-founded Sun Microsystems in 1982, serving as its chief hardware designer and chief system architect. In 2024, Bechtolsheim settled insider trading allegations with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, agreeing to a five-year ban from serving as an officer or director of a public company and paying a civil penalty of nearly $1 million. Despite this, he remains active in the technology sector, continuing his work with Arista Networks and other ventures.
