Annie Parker

Overview

Annie Parker is an Australian angel investor and startup ecosystem leader. She has built multiple startup programs around the world for global brands like Microsoft, Telefonica, and Telstra. A firm believer in the importance of paying everything forward, Annie also supports programs that grow the broader startup community. In 2014, she co-founded Code Club Australia, which teaches primary school kids coding skills. In 2015, she co-founded Techfugees Australia, a program connecting the technology ecosystem together with newly arrived refugees to help solve problems they face. Annie has been recognised by the Australian Financial Review as one of the 100 Women of Influence in Australia for 2018, and winner of Most Progressive Workplace leader by Talent Unleashed in 2017. Annie joined the Greater Sydney Commission in December 2021 to lead the establishment and curation of Sydney and Australia’s largest tech innovation hub, Tech Central. Prior to Tech Central, she was a senior leader in Microsoft’s Global Startups team, leading all Equity and Inclusion and Social Impact partnerships and programs around the world. She also built and led Telstra’s startup program, muru-D, and was Head of Operations for Telefonica’s startup program, Wayra, in Europe. Annie is a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion, which she led globally in her most recent role in the Start-ups team at Microsoft. A believer in the importance of paying everything forward, Annie has built programs that grow the broader community, such as Code Club Australia and Techfugees Australia – both programs teaching technology and entrepreneurial skills to communities that need them.
