Overview
Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) is a financial hub in Astana, Kazakhstan, established to attract foreign direct investment and develop the non-banking financial sector. Since its launch in 2018, AIFC has attracted over $20 billion in investments into Kazakhstan's economy. In 2025, AIFC participants attracted $6 billion, including $4 billion in portfolio investments and $2 billion from AIFC participants. The center has registered more than 4,900 companies from over 90 countries, including firms from China, Singapore, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. AIFC operates under a legal framework based on international standards, offering a favorable environment for financial services, including banking, asset management, insurance, and Islamic finance. The center has developed infrastructure to support various financial activities, including the Astana International Exchange (AIX), which has surpassed $2 billion in trading turnover and reached 200 new listings. AIFC also supports green finance initiatives, with approximately 70% of all green bonds and green loans issued in Kazakhstan executed through its platform. The center continues to enhance its regulatory framework and services to attract global investors and foster economic development in the region.
