Bill Trenchard

Overview

As a partner at First Round Capital, Bill Trenchard specializes in early-stage technology investments, particularly in sectors such as SaaS, consumer internet, consumer health, climate tech, enterprise, and hardware. He primarily invests in pre-seed, seed, and early-stage companies across the United States, with individual investments ranging from $750,000 to $4 million. Before joining First Round Capital, Trenchard co-founded LiveOps, a cloud contact center company, and Jump Networks, a web calendar and personal organizer acquired by Microsoft. He has also been an angel investor and founding partner at Founder Collective, making investments in companies like Uber, IronPort (acquired by Cisco), AdRoll, PowerSet (acquired by Microsoft), Lending Club, HomeRun (acquired by Rearden Commerce), Tapulous (acquired by Disney), Slide (acquired by Google), and Chegg. At First Round Capital, Trenchard has led investments in companies including Looker, Flexport, Verkada, Superhuman, Airbase, Nova Credit, Legion, and Labelbox. His extensive experience spans both founding and funding startups, providing him with deep operating and investment expertise. Trenchard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Technology Studies from Cornell University.
