Bluegrass Angels

Overview

The Bluegrass Angels seeks to encourage the development of start-up companies and to support new businesses in the region by providing the region's entrepreneurs with seed capital and management guidance from experienced industry and entrepreneurial veterans. An important, although not exclusive, focus of the BGA is to develop start-up companies through the commercialization of the on-going research of the University of Kentucky.

Investment Focus

• Capable management team with domain expertise
• Scalable business model addressing identifiable unmet need
• Balanced team with financial, technical, marketing, and management expertise
• Protectable intellectual property
• Product or service past proof-of-concept stage
• Plausible exit strategy within 5-8 years
• Valuation at first funding below $5 million, but will consider higher if supported by data
• Typical funding round of $250,000-$1,500,000; initial funding starts at $100,000 and may go higher if supported by due diligence findings
