J-Angels

Overview

J-Angels is a community and venture capital fund comprising Jewish-American and Israeli-born investors based in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. The group includes 150 members who have been early backers in companies such as Uber, Palantir, and Google. Members are primarily C-level executives in leading tech companies or current or former partners in venture capital funds. The group meets monthly to invest through the J-Angels fund and directly from its members. The investment committee includes co-chairs Oded Hermoni (Rhodium) and Jim Koshland (DLA Piper, LP and former board member at Levi Strauss Jeans company), Jeff Epstein (Operating partner, Bessemer, Lecturer at Stanford, former CFO of Oracle and Nielsen, Board member at Priceline), Laura Lauder (General Partner at LauderPartners, venture philanthropist in Silicon Valley, Co-founder of Socrates Society at Aspen Institute), Jake Seid (Investor, former managing partner at Lightspeed and President of TenX), Dan Rubinstein (Founder/CEO of Health Coda, former Director of product at Facebook and Google and head of product at Palantir), Assaf Resnick (Co-founder and CEO of BigPanda and former investor at Sequoia Capital), and Lev Mass (Crux Capital, former Yahoo!, Exseed Partners). J-Angels focuses on early-stage investments in sectors where they have expertise within the group, including enterprise software, consumer, mobile, automotive, cleantech, foodtech, fintech, edtech, life sciences, hardware, AI, computer vision, robotics, and security. They prefer to invest in companies with valuations between $3 million and $8 million, with round sizes ranging from hundreds of thousands to $5 million. Investment sizes range from $50,000 to $500,000, with an average of $500,000. The group primarily invests in the United States (Bay Area, NYC, LA, Boston) and Israel. J-Angels is committed to supporting entrepreneurs by providing not only capital but also access to a network of experienced professionals who can offer strategic guidance and mentorship to help companies achieve their goals.
