Brad Inman

Overview

Brad Inman is an American entrepreneur and angel investor known for founding Inman News and various internet businesses. He began his career in journalism, writing a sports column in high school and later covering urban housing issues in San Francisco, which led to a 16-year column for the San Francisco Examiner. In 1996, he founded Inman News, an online news source for the real estate industry. Inman News was sold in 2021 to Beringer Capital, a Canadian private equity firm specializing in media, marketing services, and technology sectors. Inman has been involved in several other ventures. He was on the Microsoft team that launched HomeAdvisor in 1998 and founded online real estate firm HomeGain.com in 1999, which was acquired by Classified Ventures in 2005. In 2005, he started TurnHere.com, an internet video production and distribution platform that produced editorial and advertising content for companies such as Conde Nast, NBC, Williams Sonoma, Yelp, and OpenTable. In 2009, he founded Vook, an enhanced ebook company. He is also co-founder of ClimateCheck, a search engine that rates climate change risk for property. As an angel investor, Inman has invested in various companies, including Dot.LA, a media company covering the Los Angeles tech scene, in January 2020. He was also the first investor in Curbed, a network of local blogs covering cities across the United States, and served as chairman before it was sold to Vox Media. Inman earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Boston University. He has been recognized for his contributions to journalism and entrepreneurship and continues to be active in the real estate and technology sectors.
