Chris Barnes

Overview

As Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Atomico, Chris Barnes oversees fund management, investor relations, finance, legal, and IT operations. He joined Atomico in February 2015 after thirteen years at Terra Firma Capital Partners, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and was involved in structuring, funding, and executing portfolio investments. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Arthur Andersen in the Private Equity Group. Chris holds a Master of Arts with Honors in History and Economics from the University of Cambridge. At Atomico, Chris contributes to strategic leadership and operational management, focusing on supporting ambitious tech founders across Europe. His role involves ensuring the firm's operations effectively support the growth of portfolio companies. He served on the board of LendInvest until the company's successful IPO in 2021. Chris's extensive experience in private equity and venture capital, combined with his operational expertise, enables him to provide valuable guidance to entrepreneurs aiming to scale their businesses internationally. His background in finance and investment management supports Atomico's mission to empower tech founders at Series A and beyond, leveraging deep operational experience to accelerate their growth.
