Overview

Colin Hanna is a Partner at Balderton Capital, a venture capital firm based in London, UK, that invests in early and growth stage technology and internet startup companies in Europe. He joined Balderton in 2016 and was promoted to Partner in May 2021, becoming the first-ever Balderton Partner based outside London. At Balderton, Colin invests in purpose-driven, product-focused founders across verticals including Cloud, Consumer, Crypto, and Fintech. He is also part of the team responsible for driving the firm’s Sustainable Future Goals initiatives. Prior to joining Balderton, Colin worked at SoundCloud in Berlin, where he led Emerging Market Growth. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York, focusing on raising capital for Asian internet companies, including Qunar, Tencent, Nexon, Vipshop, and Tarena. Colin holds a B.A. from Princeton University in Political Science, where he was Captain of the Men’s Swimming Team. He has lived in Indonesia and Hong Kong and is fluent in Mandarin, German, and Spanish. Colin serves on the boards of portfolio companies such as VanMoof, Finoa, Rahko, and Vivenu. He has been instrumental in defining Balderton’s Sustainable Future Goals and strengthening the firm’s presence in the DACH region by establishing a permanent presence in Berlin and bringing in Shikha Ahluwalia as an associate. Colin's global perspective and diverse background contribute to his unique approach to venture capital, focusing on purpose-driven investments that aim to make a positive impact on the world.
