CDVCA serves as a network for community development venture capital (CDVC) funds, providing flexible equity capital to businesses in underinvested markets. Its mission is to create good jobs, productive wealth, and entrepreneurial capacity that enhance the livelihoods of low-income individuals and stimulate the economies of distressed communities. CDVCA achieves this by offering education, networking opportunities, dissemination of best practices, capital availability, communications, and public policy development. CDVCA manages its own investment vehicle, the Central Fund, which specializes in identifying areas with untapped market potential and investing in rapidly growing businesses across diverse industries. The organization has invested in over 250 companies, creating more than 30,000 jobs across the United States and Puerto Rico. CDVCA is also the Managing General Partner for the $47 million Innovate New York Fund and the $45 million Puerto Rico Fund for Growth. Additionally, CDVCA is an active member of the New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) community, with over $100 million in federal and state allocations. Through its initiatives, CDVCA has been at the forefront of impact investing in low-income communities for over 25 years. The organization focuses on increasing the availability of risk capital to support entrepreneurs and business owners, driving economic growth and quality job creation. CDVCA emphasizes the importance of job quality, ensuring that employment opportunities offer living wages, benefits, and wealth-creating programs. The organization also addresses workforce development by providing access to jobs and upskilling opportunities to support both current and future workforce needs. CDVCA collaborates with partners nationwide to promote economic and community development.
