Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian government agency established in 2003 under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF) with a mandate to fund potential and high-calibre tech startups through its Cradle Investment Programme (CIP). Currently administered by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Cradle has supported over 1,000 Malaysian tech startups, holding the highest commercialisation rate among government grants in the country. In 2015, Cradle expanded its role from grant provider to investor by establishing its venture arm, Cradle Seed Ventures, and further expanded to equity investment in early 2017, offering both funding and investment assistance. Cradle's product offerings are not only restricted to monetary aid but also include commercialisation support, coaching, and various value-added services to cater to today's entrepreneurs' diversified needs. Cradle spearheads the Malaysia Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030, the MYStartup initiative, and the Angel Tax Incentive (ATIO). Cradle aligns with MOSTI's aspiration to generate 5,000 startups by 2025, create 10,000 high-skilled coders, and place Malaysia among the top 20 global startup ecosystems by 2030. Cradle's investment focus includes sectors such as technology, artificial intelligence, fintech, healthtech, and agritech. The agency provides funding and support to startups at various stages, including seed, early stage, Series A, Series B, and growth stages. Cradle's geographical focus is primarily on Malaysia, aiming to foster a robust and innovative startup ecosystem within the country. Cradle's mission is to create an ecosystem that promotes a business-building environment for technology entrepreneurs, accelerate the government's vision in building global technology startups, and achieve commercialization efficiency and sustainable entrepreneurship as per their credo – Creating Leading Startups.
