Craig Cummings

Overview

Craig Cummings is a General Partner at Moonshots Capital, a venture capital firm based in Austin, Texas. He co-founded the firm with Kelly Perdew, focusing on investing in technology start-ups, many of which are founded by military veteran entrepreneurs. His investment portfolio includes companies in sectors such as GovTech, Travel, Security, AR/VR, and TransportationTech. Notable investments include Outpost Space and Proteus Space. Before his venture capital career, Craig co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of RideScout, a mobile app that provided real-time ground transportation information. RideScout was acquired by Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) in September 2014. He also co-founded MILLIE, a company offering support to military families during relocations, and APX Labs, which developed augmented reality software for smart glasses. Craig served 17 years in the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Officer, supporting the National Security Agency. He deployed to Afghanistan with the Joint Special Operations Command, earning the Bronze Star, and served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at West Point. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. Craig has been recognized by HillVets as one of the 100 most influential veterans in the U.S. and was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the Top 20 Military Veteran Entrepreneurs in 2016. He is also a member of the 2016 Class of Henry Crown Fellows with the Aspen Institute.
