Overview

Danish SDG Investment Fund is a Danish development fund focusing on investments that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. The fund was established in 2018 as a public-private partnership between Impact Fund Denmark and several Danish institutional and private investors. It aims to promote sustainable development by investing in companies that align with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The fund's investment strategy emphasizes sectors such as sustainable energy, agribusiness, infrastructure, water and sanitation, as well as industry, services, and the financial sector. It targets investments in developing countries, including regions in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and parts of Europe and the MENA region. The fund seeks to mobilize private capital to support projects that advance economic and social development in these areas. Since its inception, the fund has made significant progress toward its objectives. By 2024, it had invested DKK 3.9 billion (approximately EUR 0.5 billion) in 27 private sector companies across emerging markets, mobilizing an additional DKK 14.5 billion (EUR 1.9 billion) in capital. These investments have led to measurable impacts, including the installation of 2,500 MW of renewable energy, providing healthcare services to 1.3 million patients, and supporting over 100,000 smallholder farmers within sustainable food systems. The fund continues to prioritize inclusive growth and climate action in its investment approach. The fund is managed by Impact Fund Denmark, which is recognized as a global leader in impact investing. Impact Fund Denmark is a development finance institution owned by the Government of Denmark, providing risk capital and advice to companies operating in developing countries. The fund's strategy is built on the conviction that positive impact and financial returns can reinforce each other, making it a critical player in mobilizing private capital for sustainable development.
