David Wassong

Overview

David Wassong is a private equity professional and co-managing partner of Newlight Partners LP. He co-founded Newlight Partners in October 2018, following the spin-out of the Strategic Investments Group from Soros Fund Management LLC, where he had served as co-head since 2005. At Soros Fund Management, he was responsible for overseeing investments in private equity, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, venture capital, and private equity and venture capital funds. His team managed a global portfolio of direct private equity investments. Prior to joining Soros Fund Management, Mr. Wassong was Vice President at Lauder Gaspar Ventures, LLC, a media, entertainment, and telecommunications-focused venture capital fund. He began his career in finance as an analyst and associate in the investment banking group of Schroder Wertheim & Co., Inc. Mr. Wassong holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He resides in New York City with his wife and two children.
