Overview

Debiopharm Innovation Fund is the strategic digital health investment arm of Debiopharm, focusing on digital health innovations. The fund invests in early-stage startups developing smart data, therapeutic, and diagnostic solutions that impact patients, particularly in oncology and infectious diseases. It typically invests in therapeutic startups at the preclinical stage, in diagnostics at the development stage, and in smart data at the early commercialization stage. The fund's mission is to provide Debiopharm Group with insights into the future through investments in innovative companies that change the way drugs are developed and patients are treated. Since 2017, Debiopharm has invested in 15 AI and digital health companies, typically leading the investment rounds. As of September 2023, Debiopharm Innovation Fund is expanding its footprint through a new Seed financing activity. The fund's vision is to accelerate the digital transformation of cancer care and pharmaceutical R&D by investing in technologies that predict, enhance, and speed up the drug development process, as well as those that improve the patient experience. It focuses on three main areas: Next Gen Pharma R&D, Clinical Trial Tech, and Digital Medicine. The fund seeks companies with a robust understanding of science, disruptive technology or business models, and the ability to surface meaningful data-driven insights. Investment criteria include a management team with entrepreneurial and industry experience, innovative technology, a product answering a need with a clear unique selling proposition, and a well-defined operational plan and commercial strategy with a realistic budget.
