Dietmar Grichnik

Overview

Dietmar Grichnik is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen. He has held visiting professorships at ESADE Business School and the University of Melbourne, was a guest at Harvard Business School, and taught at ETH Zurich. As a former banker, entrepreneur, investor, and coach, he supports university start-ups. His passion is entrepreneurship in all situations. In his role at the University of St. Gallen, Grichnik focuses on evidence-based entrepreneurship research. He has co-authored several books and over 200 articles on entrepreneurship, finance, and management. As an investor, he has engaged with more than a dozen startups in FinTech, LegalTech, FoodTech, HealthTech, and Social and Sustainable Ventures. He is a member of the board of the Foundation Switzerland Innovation and an advisor to FinTech Sinpex in Germany. Grichnik's teaching and research emphasize entrepreneurial action and decision-making under uncertainty. He is listed as one of the top 100 leading entrepreneurship professors worldwide and has been recognized for his contributions to the field. His work continues to influence the startup ecosystem, particularly in Europe, where he actively mentors and invests in emerging companies.
