Diōko Ventures is a seed-stage, healthcare-focused venture capital firm based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The firm specializes in investing in healthcare software and software-enabled services businesses that often have recurring revenue models and aim to disrupt outdated, manual processes. Diōko Ventures does not invest in medical device, life science, or drug development companies. The firm's investment size ranges from $300,000 to $1.2 million, targeting companies with an annual run rate of $50,000 or more. While the firm primarily focuses on Western North Carolina, it has the capacity to invest anywhere in the United States. Diōko Ventures has invested in several portfolio companies, including Clinical Ink, Novarus Healthcare, RubiconMD, SafeRide Health, HB 2020, ShiftWizard, Nvolve, and SonderMind. The firm was officially launched in January 2016, with its first fund, Diōko Health Ventures I, LP, seeking to raise $15-25 million to invest in companies primarily in and around Western North Carolina and the Triad. The fund is managed and supported by FCA Venture Partners, with Matthew King serving as the Managing Partner of FCA. The investment committee for the fund includes King, Tom Hearn, CEO of Novarus Healthcare, and Todd Johnson, co-founder and Board member of KeraNetics, LLC. Diōko Ventures works closely with Inmar, Inc., Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, local universities, academic medical centers, and accelerators to foster, grow, and fund the local healthcare entrepreneurial ecosystem.
