Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund

Overview

The Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF) is a €500 million challenge-based fund established under Project Ireland 2040, aiming to drive collaboration between Ireland's research base and industry. Managed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and administered by Enterprise Ireland, the fund supports projects that develop and deploy disruptive technologies on a commercial basis. To date, over €530 million in funding has been awarded to 131 projects across seven DTIF calls. DTIF focuses on collaborative industrial research and experimental development, encouraging partnerships among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), multinational corporations (MNCs), and research performing organisations (RPOs). Projects are assessed based on the strength of the disruptive technology, excellence of the proposal, economic impact, sustainability, and the quality and efficiency of the collaboration. The fund aims to alter markets, change business operations, create new products, and contribute to new business models. The fund has supported a diverse range of sectors, including technology, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing. It has facilitated the development of innovative solutions in areas such as med-tech, life sciences, and sustainable data infrastructure. By backing these collaborations, DTIF enables companies to develop and commercialise cutting-edge technologies, contributing to Ireland's economic competitiveness and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across industries.
