Overview

EIB Global is the European Investment Bank's specialized arm devoted to increasing the impact of international partnerships and development finance, and a key partner in Global Gateway. It focuses on financing projects that support the European Union's development and cooperation policies worldwide, aiming to foster sustainable and inclusive societies. EIB Global operates in various regions, including the Western Balkans, the EU’s Eastern and Southern neighbourhoods, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia and the Pacific. Since 2021, most of its operations have been backed by NDICI - Global Europe, the European Union’s main financing tool to promote sustainable development, peace, and stability. EIB Global's strategic orientation aims to strengthen the contribution of the EIB Group to Europe’s position in a changing world, addressing global challenges such as climate change, extreme poverty, and geopolitical shifts. It works with international partners to reduce poverty in the poorest countries and invests in projects that protect the planet and its natural resources, ensuring sustainable development for future generations. EIB Global's impact is evident in various sectors, including climate action, infrastructure, small and medium-sized enterprises, and development, contributing to the EU's objectives both within and outside its borders. Its investments aim to improve access to clean water, energy, and education, promote economic growth, and support environmental sustainability, aligning with the EU's policy goals and global development priorities.
