OMERS Ventures is the venture capital arm of OMERS, the pension plan for Ontario’s municipal employees. Established in 2011, OMERS Ventures focuses on early-stage investments in technology-driven companies, particularly in sectors such as fintech, software, enterprise infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. With offices in Toronto, New York, and Palo Alto, OMERS Ventures has invested over $340 million in nearly 30 disruptive technology companies across North America, creating over 5,000 jobs and attracting an additional $1.2 billion for its portfolio companies. In August 2023, OMERS Ventures decided to exit the European market, refocusing its efforts on North America amid a decline in tech investment in the region.
