Faros Accelerator

Overview

Faros Accelerator is Italy's first accelerator dedicated to startups and scale-ups in the blue economy sector. Established in 2021, it aims to promote a resilient, innovative, and sustainable marine economy by fostering the development of solutions in areas such as port innovation, sustainable shipping, marine ecosystem protection, and the responsible use of marine resources. The accelerator operates through two hubs located in Taranto and La Spezia, collaborating with local public and private organizations to provide strategic and operational support to startups. The program focuses on several key areas of innovation, including intelligent systems for ocean data collection, development of sustainable ocean energy systems, marine health and restoration, smart ports and green shipping, shipbuilding, coastal tourism, sustainable aquaculture, and disruptive uses of blue resources. By offering a comprehensive acceleration program that includes masterclasses, one-on-one coaching, mentoring with industry experts, and networking opportunities, Faros Accelerator aims to enhance the Italian entrepreneurial ecosystem within the blue economy. Faros Accelerator is managed by a|cube, a social and environmental impact business accelerator, and local manager Wylab, with strategic support from PortXL, Rotterdam's leading maritime accelerator. The accelerator is part of the National Accelerators Network promoted by CDP Venture Capital SGR, reflecting its commitment to supporting high-potential startups operating in the marine field and contributing to the sustainable development of the blue economy in Italy.
