Fond-ICO Global is a public fund of funds established in Spain to bolster the private equity and venture capital ecosystem. Endowed with €4.5 billion, it aims to develop and consolidate privately managed venture capital funds investing in Spanish companies across all stages, from early development to expansion and growth. The fund has committed to over 100 funds, playing a pivotal role in facilitating the growth of Spanish startups and businesses through various equity investments, including incubators, technology transfer, venture capital, and expansion capital. The fund's strategy focuses on investing in private venture capital funds that finance Spanish companies at all development stages, emphasizing sustainable and digital transition projects. Target funds must have a majority of private capital and be managed by private fund managers with a presence and investment experience in Spain. The capital invested by Fond-ICO Global in each fund depends on the investment stage and fund size, with maximum investments of €100 million for growth capital funds and €50 million for venture capital funds, representing up to 30% and 40% of the total fund size, respectively. Since its inception, Fond-ICO Global has been instrumental in strengthening Spain's private equity industry, contributing to business development, innovation, job creation, and supporting new private equity funds and managers. Through its investments, the fund has mobilized significant resources, with a multiplier effect of 2.97 times the investment in Spain compared to its contribution, and has been a key instrument for economic growth, aligned with the challenges of innovation, digitalization, and sustainability.
