Overview

FONGIT - The Innovation Platform is a private, non-profit foundation established in 1991, dedicated to supporting technology-based startups in Geneva, Switzerland. Backed by the State of Geneva, FONGIT's mission is to transform innovative ideas into sustainable companies by providing entrepreneurs with the expertise, resources, and financing they need. Over the years, FONGIT has supported over 220 startups, helping them raise more than CHF 1 billion in funding and creating over 1,800 jobs in the past decade. The foundation offers a comprehensive program that includes targeted coaching, workshops, legal support, administrative assistance, and access to a vibrant community of innovators. FONGIT's focus spans various sectors, including ICT, advanced engineering, life sciences, biotech, medtech, cleantech, food tech, fintech, and more. Through its initiatives, FONGIT aims to de-risk the entrepreneurial journey and foster economic and social value in the Geneva region. The foundation also launched the FONGIT Innovation Fund (FIF) in 2021, a unique financing tool designed to accelerate innovation at Geneva-based research institutions, startups, and scale-ups. The FIF bridges public and private efforts to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, with partners including the State of Geneva, the Modus Foundation, the United Nations International Trade Center (ITC), and the United Nations Environment Agency. FONGIT's commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship has earned it recognition and support from various stakeholders, contributing to the dynamic startup ecosystem in Geneva and beyond.
