Freada Kapor Klein

Overview

Freada Kapor Klein is an entrepreneur, activist, and angel investor dedicated to fostering social equity through technology. As a founding partner at Kapor Capital, she invests in seed-stage tech startups that aim to close gaps of access, opportunity, or outcome for low-income communities and communities of color. Her investment focus includes sectors such as technology, education, and social impact. In addition to her investment activities, Freada co-founded the Alliance Against Sexual Coercion in 1976, the first organization in the U.S. to address sexual harassment. She also founded SMASH, a program providing rigorous STEM education for low-income high school students of color. Her commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to her role as co-chair of the Kapor Center, where she is involved in research and initiatives on responsible and ethical AI. Freada has been recognized for her contributions to social justice and technology, including being named UC Berkeley’s Alumna of the Year in 2020.
