Fred D. Schaufeld is a co-founder and managing director of SWaN & Legend Venture Partners, a multi-stage venture capital firm based in Leesburg, Virginia. The firm invests in high-growth, high-quality organizations and the entrepreneurs behind them, focusing on sectors such as consumer brands, content, digital commerce, retail, restaurants, and wellness. Schaufeld is also a partner in Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Washington Capitals (NHL), Wizards (NBA), Mystics (WNBA), and Capital One Arena; the Washington Nationals (MLB); aXiomatic, which has a controlling interest in e-sports franchise Team Liquid; and the Professional Fighters League (PFL). Schaufeld is the patent holder of the Rigid Insurance Form (Patent #4,874,187) and a founder and former president of the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC), a national extended warranty trade association that works with lawmakers to develop fair and uniform regulations to protect consumers. Schaufeld currently sits on the boards of DuraStat, Georgiamune, José Andrés Group, Mindshow, Sugar23, Telos, and UrbanStems. He advises the board of Class Technologies. His philanthropic efforts include serving on the boards of Fight for Children, One Voice Movement, and Venture Philanthropy Partners, as well as supporting the Schaufeld Family Heart Center of the Inova Loudoun Hospital and the Fredrick D. and Karen G. Schaufeld Family Foundation. Schaufeld earned his BA in government from Lehigh University.
