Gregory Stewart is an angel investor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, specializing in early-stage technology ventures. He is the Principal at GreenSky Ventures, a firm focused on providing seed and angel funding to cleantech companies. Under his leadership, GreenSky Ventures has successfully sourced and provided over $25 million in capital to early-stage cleantech companies in the past three years, including investments in Smart Energy Instruments Inc., Pliteq Inc., Pyrowave Inc., Clear Blue Technologies Inc., and Mirexus Inc. GreenSky Ventures is also a member of the GreenSky President’s Club, an active Toronto angel network with over 100 members providing seed-stage investments to young cleantech companies. Prior to his role at GreenSky Ventures, Stewart gained experience in finance and early-stage companies, including serving as Chief Financial Officer at American Strategic Insurance (ASI), where he was instrumental in growing the company's revenue from $38 million to $506 million during his tenure. He also executed $168 million in transactions, including capitalizing a start-up insurer, a buyout of a major owner, an acquisition of a competitor, and multiple debt instruments. Stewart began his career in corporate planning with Bankers Financial and spent two years as an Equity Analyst at Neuberger Berman in New York, working on Genesis Fund, one of the world’s largest Small Cap Value Funds. His extensive background in finance and early-stage companies has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the cleantech sector, enabling him to make informed investment decisions that support the growth and success of innovative startups in this field.
