HAMAG-BICRO

Overview

HAMAG-BICRO is the Croatian Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises, Innovations, and Investments, established by the Government of the Republic of Croatia to enhance SME development and promote investment. The agency offers a range of services, including financial instruments such as grants, guarantees, and loans, as well as support for research, development, and innovation. It aims to provide active support to the economic development of Croatia and create a favorable environment for entrepreneurship and investment. The agency's strategy focuses on promoting investment, issuing guarantees for bank credits to SMEs, implementing grant schemes, and co-financing consultancy services. It actively promotes Croatia as an attractive location for investment and works to increase the commercialization of knowledge and technology solutions from science to business. HAMAG-BICRO also supports the establishment and development of technology infrastructure and contributes to the creation and development of the venture capital industry. HAMAG-BICRO has a track record of supporting innovative startups and facilitating international cooperation. For example, in July 2025, the agency awarded grant contracts totaling nearly €3 million to innovative startups for developing their products and services. Additionally, in December 2025, HAMAG-BICRO launched a loan guarantee scheme with nine banks, backed by the European Regional Development Fund, to provide more favorable financing terms for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. These initiatives demonstrate the agency's commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of SMEs in Croatia.
