Founded in 2015 by Alejandro Hernández-Puértolas and Banco Sabadell, HIP was acquired by Blackstone in 2017. Since then, the company has pursued an acquisition and repositioning strategy for well-located but under-invested hotels, investing over EUR 700 million into the platform. HIP collaborates with major global hotel operators, including Ritz-Carlton, Barceló, Melia, Hyatt, Hilton, Ledra, and Marriott, to improve hotel management and enhance the guest experience. The company employs a dedicated team of around 100 professionals specializing in acquisitions, execution, renovation, and repositioning of well-located but undercapitalized hotels. In October 2023, HIP welcomed GIC, a global institutional investor, as a new capital partner, with GIC becoming an approximately 35% shareholder and Blackstone maintaining a majority stake of approximately 65%. This partnership is expected to further strengthen HIP's position in the market and support its ongoing growth and development in the hospitality sector.
