Igor Fisch

Overview

Igor Fisch is a Swiss entrepreneur and investor specializing in biotechnology, particularly gene and cell therapy development. He co-founded NewBiologix, a company focused on advancing manufacturing technologies for gene and cell therapies. NewBiologix's proprietary DNA-based platform addresses key manufacturing challenges associated with the production of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors used in advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). The company raised $50 million in a Series A funding round led by Recipharm A/S, with additional funding from Fisch and co-founder Nicolas Mermod. NewBiologix is headquartered in Biopôle, Lausanne, Switzerland, and aims to make viral production cell lines commercially available by 2026. Fisch's previous venture, Selexis, was a world-leading cell line development company that achieved a successful exit in 2017. Under his leadership, Selexis developed technologies that helped biopharmaceutical companies manufacture biologic drugs, including monoclonal antibodies, resulting in 10 marketed products. Fisch holds a PhD from the University of Geneva and conducted postdoctoral studies under Nobel laureate Prof. Sir Gregory Winter. He serves on the boards of Igyxos and Fluosphera and was elected as a board member of the Swiss Biotech Association in April 2024.
