Overview

INSEAD Endowment is the investment fund supporting the global business school INSEAD. The endowment plays a pivotal role in financing scholarships, faculty chairs, research, and other activities, ensuring the school's long-term financial stability and independence. It is managed by the Endowment Management Committee, which advises the Board on investment strategy. The committee comprises INSEAD finance professors, representatives of the INSEAD foundations, and external experts. The endowment's investment strategy focuses on maximizing long-term risk-adjusted returns while integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into decision-making. The portfolio is diversified across multiple asset classes, including private equity, real estate, private debt, public equities, credit investments, hedge funds, and inflation-linked bonds. The endowment has received significant contributions from alumni and partners, including a €60 million gift from an anonymous alumnus in 2020, the largest individual gift in INSEAD's history. This gift was designated to grow the school's endowment, finance research, and fund other long-term strategic investments. The endowment's performance has been strong, with a 7.7% annual growth over the past decade, surpassing the composite benchmark's 6.5% annual growth. This performance is attributed to the private market allocations, which have yielded an annual return of 15.3%. The endowment's assets are managed by Partners Capital, advisors since 2007, ensuring a diversified and robust investment approach that supports INSEAD's mission and strategic objectives.
