Overview
InvestEU is the European Union's flagship investment programme aimed at boosting investment, innovation, and job creation across Europe. It leverages a €26.2 billion EU budget guarantee to mobilise over €372 billion in additional investments between 2021 and 2027. The programme consolidates various EU financial instruments, making access to finance and investments in European companies and projects simpler, more efficient, and more flexible. The programme comprises three main components: the InvestEU Fund, the InvestEU Advisory Hub, and the InvestEU Portal. The InvestEU Fund supports investments in four key policy areas: sustainable infrastructure, research, innovation and digitisation, social investment and skills, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The InvestEU Advisory Hub provides advisory support and technical assistance to project developers and entities, helping with the preparation, development, structuring, and implementation of investment projects. The InvestEU Portal serves as a single EU-wide platform, connecting investors and project promoters by providing an easily accessible and user-friendly database of investment opportunities available within the EU. InvestEU aims to support the EU’s top policy priorities, including economic recovery, green growth, employment, and social well-being across Europe. By crowding in other investors and making EU funds go further, the programme contributes to transforming the EU into a fair and prosperous society with a modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economy. It also plays a pivotal role under the European Green Deal Investment Plan and the Just Transition Mechanism, supporting investments that deliver real benefits and make a difference at the local level.
