Jane Woodward

Overview

Jane Woodward is a founder and managing partner of WovenEarth Ventures, an angel investment firm based in Palo Alto, California. She has a background in founding and leading successful ventures, including MAP Energy, a renewable energy and natural gas investment firm. Woodward has made significant investments in companies like Molten Industries and Magrathea, focusing on sectors such as Manufacturing, EnergyTech, and ClimateTech in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to her investment activities, Woodward serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, where she has taught classes on energy and the environment since 1991. She founded the Schneider Sustainable Energy Fellows Program, which places over 20 Stanford students annually at leading U.S. sustainable energy NGOs. Woodward also serves on Stanford’s Precourt Institute for Energy Advisory Council and funds various sustainable energy education initiatives at the university. Woodward co-founded Community Impact (now HandsOn Bay Area), a Bay Area public service volunteer organization. She also created The Foster, a 14,000-square-foot art venue in Palo Alto, to share artist-explorer Tony Foster’s exhibitions and inspire connection to the natural world. She holds a B.S. in Geology from UC Santa Barbara, an M.S. in Engineering and Petroleum Geology, and an MBA, both from Stanford University.
