Jim Scheinman

Overview

Jim Scheinman is a prominent angel investor and venture capitalist based in the United States, known for his investments in early-stage technology startups. He is the founding managing partner of Maven Ventures, a micro-VC fund and incubator in Palo Alto that focuses on consumer internet and mobile startups with hyper-growth potential. Under his leadership, Maven Ventures has invested in several successful companies, including Bebo, Tango, and NBCi. Prior to founding Maven Ventures, Scheinman held significant roles in various technology companies. He was the head of business development and sales at Friendster, one of the first social networking sites, and later joined Bebo as the first employee and board member, contributing to its $850 million sale to AOL. He also served as vice president of business development and sales at BirthdayAlarm and head of business and corporate development at NBCi. Scheinman is recognized for his expertise in consumer growth and has been a TED speaker and a frequent presenter and judge at startup conferences and events. He holds a BSc in Neuropsychology from Duke University and a JD from the University of California Davis School of Law.
