John Bitove

Overview

John Bitove is a Canadian entrepreneur and investor with a diverse portfolio in telecommunications, media, and technology sectors. Through his holding company, Obelysk, he has been involved in several significant ventures, including bringing SiriusXM satellite radio to Canada and founding Mobilicity, a mobile wireless service that was sold to Rogers Communications in 2015. He also served as the major shareholder of KEYreit, Canada's largest 'small box' real estate investment trust, which was sold in 2013. Additionally, he co-founded PointNorth Capital, an alternative asset manager, in 2015. In 2023, Bitove was appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Bird Global, Inc., a leader in environmentally friendly electric transportation. He has also served on the boards of various private companies and charitable foundations, including Gibraltar & Company, Maverix Private Equity, Selva Ventures I GP, LLC, Canadian Olympic Foundation, Macedonia 2025 Charitable Foundation, Wake Forest University, Brian Mulroney Institute of Government at St. Francis Xavier University, The S'Cool Public Education Foundation, and Telefilm Canada's Talent Fund. Bitove holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor. He has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts, including establishing the S'Cool Life Fund, which has raised over $2.8 million to fund extracurricular activities in Canadian public schools. He was also the volunteer president of the City of Toronto's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games and received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his philanthropic work.
