John Griffin

John Griffin is a prominent investor and philanthropist, best known for founding Blue Ridge Capital, a private investment firm specializing in long-term, value-oriented investments. Under Griffin's leadership, Blue Ridge Capital employed a long-short equity strategy, focusing on companies with competitive advantages and shorting those with fundamental issues. The firm achieved significant success, managing up to $9 billion in assets and delivering an average annual return of 15.4%. In addition to his investment career, Griffin is deeply involved in philanthropy and education. He founded the Blue Ridge Foundation, an incubator for startup nonprofits, and has served as a board member of the Robin Hood Foundation since 2011. He also taught finance at the University of Virginia from 1999 to 2019.
