Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV) is a climate impact investment firm established in 2016, focusing on de-risking early and growth-stage, gender-inclusive, climate-smart enterprises. The firm provides tailored, patient, and affordable capital combined with business growth support to help these enterprises gain market traction and attract follow-on investment. KCV's mission is to be the most reputable commercial climate impact investor for private sector companies in their early and growth stages, with adaptive and unique investment criteria, partnership, and value creation through financial and technical assistance. KCV supports innovative, disruptive, and sustainable business models delivering climate-smart solutions in sectors such as agribusiness, renewable energy, waste and circularity, commercial forestry, and water management. KCV's vision is to accelerate access to transformative climate-smart solutions in Kenya. Since its inception, KCV has made 23 investments into gender-inclusive, climate-smart enterprises, achieving five successful exits. The firm has screened over 350 investment applications and operationalized a US$ 3.5 million local currency Revolving Risk Capital Facility. KCV has attracted significant follow-on capital and co-financing into its portfolio, leveraging a total of US$ 19.9 million. Co-investors include Rabo Bank, Equity Bank, OPES-LCEF, Bestseller Foundation, Hooge Raedt Social Ventures, Siemens Foundation, Nordic Impact Funds, Cornerstone Enterprises Ltd, and WRI TerraFund. KCV was licensed as a specialized climate fund manager for its next growth phase, scaling operations beyond Kenya and deepening market systems impact. The firm is initiating fundraising for US$ 23–25 million to grow its investment portfolio and regional reach.
