Overview

The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) is a non-profit, government-funded organization established to implement government policies and programs for the sound growth and development of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. KOSME operates both financial and non-financial programs to support SMEs, including providing policy funds for expansion, product development, and business restructuring. Additionally, it offers advisory services such as consulting, training, marketing, and global cooperation programs to enhance the global competitiveness of SMEs. KOSME's global network includes 20 centers with 260 offices across 12 countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Russia, Germany, Chile, Thailand, Mexico, Vietnam, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Kazakhstan. These centers aim to support the international expansion and export growth of Korean SMEs by providing various services tailored to digital trade environments. In 2024, KOSME provided direct loan support totaling approximately $3 billion to Korean SMEs, demonstrating its commitment to fostering the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in South Korea. The agency continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the global presence and competitiveness of Korean SMEs and startups.
