Kwamara Thompson

Overview

As an angel and seed investor, Kwamara Thompson, through her company TEC, LLC, has invested millions of dollars in small businesses across the United States and recently launched a fund. She is recognized as an industry leader, having been featured in multiple articles across global media outlets, including CBS, NBC, Yahoo News, Business Insider, Boston Herald, and MarketWatch. She has spoken at numerous events and conferences, including the UK Parliament House of Lords, and has been featured on multiple podcasts. She also sits on the board of numerous organizations, including iHeart Media Advisory Board and the Black Information Network. She is the Vice Chair of the Miami Dade County Public Schools NAF, STEM and CTE advisory board. She is on Pace University Lubin School of Business and Seton Hall University Stillman School of Business Advisory Boards. She holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, a Masters in Education Leadership, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University. She is a nationally highly certified and award-winning educator. She is an NYU Steinhardt School of Education Senior Leader. She is a member of Educator Leaders of Color, Education Pioneers, and New Leaders as well as an Afterschool Alliance Ambassador. Kwamara has always believed that entrepreneurship and education are often the best ways to attain financial freedom. She has been promoting community, empowerment, and sistahood for over 20 years. As a philanthropist, Kwamara has helped to raise and give out hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students across the country. As a social entrepreneur, Kwamara wants those in her community to succeed, and through marrying her passions for leadership, activism, and education, she has been able to help many in her community attain their financial and entrepreneurial goals. Over the past 10 years, Kwamara has created multiple initiatives, products, and services all under the TEC, LLC umbrella, acquiring multiple streams of income and investment opportunities, helping companies create more equitable, empathetic, and human-centered organizations while ensuring revenue and profitability as well as helping to alleviate the structures of systemic racism. As an angel and seed investor, Kwamara and TEC, LLC have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in small businesses across the country and have recently launched a fund. In 2023 alone, she has been part of investing $550,000 back into the community.
