Overview

Lake Victoria Logistics, established in May 2015 as Mahathi Infra Uganda, is a private investment firm dedicated to revolutionizing petroleum logistics in Uganda and other landlocked nations such as Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The company aims to reduce the cost of transporting fuel by providing efficient and sustainable solutions, including the construction of state-of-the-art tank ships and storage facilities. In July 2024, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially launched the facility at Bugiri-Bukasa, Kawuku-Entebbe Road, expressing gratitude for the investment and highlighting its potential to reduce transportation costs and road congestion. The facility boasts a 70 million-liter fuel storage capacity, the largest in Uganda and East Africa, and is equipped with a 256-meter-long jetty to facilitate efficient cargo handling. The company operates two tank ships, each with a capacity of 4.5 million liters, capable of making ten trips per month, with plans to construct two additional ships to double the monthly capacity to 180 million liters. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the cost of fuel transportation and contribute to the economic growth of the region.
