Overview

Lankan Angel Network (LAN) is Sri Lanka's largest network of angel investors, dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and fostering a viable startup ecosystem. Established in 2012, LAN comprises over 75 members who have collectively invested more than LKR 700 million in local startups, supporting over 20 companies through both financial backing and mentorship. The network plays a pivotal role in Sri Lanka's entrepreneurial landscape, bridging the gap between investors and emerging businesses. LAN's investment strategy focuses on high-growth, early-stage ventures across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, education, and agriculture. The network offers a range of support to entrepreneurs, from seed funding to strategic guidance, aiming to accelerate business growth and innovation. By providing access to a diverse group of investors, LAN enhances deal flow and offers structured support to startups, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to scale effectively. Beyond financial investment, LAN is committed to nurturing the startup ecosystem through initiatives like the Angel Fund, established in early 2020 with the support of the Ford Foundation. This Rs. 100 million fund is dedicated to investing in 8-10 startups and providing mentorship to 25-50 companies. LAN's holistic approach combines capital infusion with strategic mentorship, reflecting its dedication to fostering sustainable business growth and contributing to the broader economic development of Sri Lanka.
