Laura Segafredo is a climate expert with extensive experience in sustainable investing, academia, and climate tech advisory roles. She currently serves as the Chief Growth Officer at NatureAlpha, a company specializing in nature and biodiversity analytics. In this role, she is responsible for new business development, index solutions, and strategic initiatives, leveraging her two decades of experience in the sustainable finance industry. Prior to joining NatureAlpha, Segafredo was a Managing Director at BlackRock, where she led the Global Sustainable Product and Portfolio Research team, significantly expanding the sustainable ETF and Index Mutual Funds platform from approximately $110 billion to $500 billion in under four years. Her leadership was instrumental in delivering BlackRock's global sustainability commitments, including the disclosure of climate metrics for exchange-traded funds and index mutual funds. Before her tenure at BlackRock, Segafredo held key positions at institutions such as the ClimateWorks Foundation and Electricité de France, contributing to climate policy development and sustainable investment strategies. She also served as the Project Director of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project, coordinating over 100 research efforts across 16 countries, which contributed to the Paris Agreement process. In addition to her professional roles, Segafredo is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, teaching graduate-level courses on climate and sustainable investing. She holds a PhD in Energy Studies from the University of Padova, a Master's in Industrial Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics, and a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Padova.
