Overview

The Liverpool City Region Seed Fund is a £10 million initiative launched on 17 June 2025 to accelerate the growth of innovative early-stage businesses across the Liverpool City Region. Managed by AXM Venture Capital Limited, the fund offers investment opportunities ranging from £250,000 to £2 million, targeting businesses with innovative products or services, a clear route to market, and strong potential to scale. The fund is open to businesses across all sectors, with a particular focus on Advanced Manufacturing, Digital and Creative Industries, and Health and Life Sciences. The initiative aims to improve the success rate of scale-ups, attract inward investment, and enhance the broader business support ecosystem across the city region. Applications for the fund are open, and interested businesses can apply through the Growth Platform website. The fund is part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority's broader strategy to fuel business growth and generate high-quality jobs. It complements other funding initiatives such as the £53 million Chrysalis Fund, the £25 million LCR Urban Development Fund, and the £20 million Flexible Growth Fund. The LCR Seed Fund is designed to help the city region reach its target of spending 5% of its economy on research and development (R&D) by 2030, nearly doubling the national target.
